FXR Upgrade
So I picked up this 96 inch ultima for a great price... and was on the fence about whether or not to flip it, use it in a project, or put it in my FXR.
Well after being bed ridden sick for two days, yesterday I decided to say fuck it and throw it in my FXR.
Of course there had to be a fiasco. The magnets in my rotor decided they didn't wanna be there anymore and late model charging systems is not something I keep on the shelf. I had repaired the stator wiring about 25,000 miles ago, and the old wires were looking pretty sketchy as well. So after some touch up on the wires and regluing the magnets, I was able to get some charging out of that old system.
I'll need to put a new charging system in eventually, but that got me down the road.
Man what a difference that 96 inch motor is.. I'm already thinking 107.

Morris Magneto is awesome
Hit me up if you want one!
Yamaha info:
- Model "YXS", high performance magneto for the Yamaha XS650
- Bolts up to left side cam-end cup; no modifications needed
- Brushed aluminum finish; polished also available. choose clear or black cap
- No battery or 12 volt system needed for ignition, no wiring required
- Does not interfere with the spark plug; drive fits under right side cam-end cover
- And least we mention... is made in USA.
CNC machined from 6061-billet aluminum, Morris Magnetos create high voltage from strong rare-earth magnets; the faster they turn the hotter the spark.
Triumph info:
- This is the only Unit Triumph magneto ('62 up?) that:
- is retardable for easy kick or electric starting;
- advances automatically when engine starts;
- mounts on the left, tucked away from harm;
- is cam-driven through the tach port.
- And least we mention... is made in USA.

33 miles of adventure, speeding tickets, and great weather
Great early morning through the Black Hills, then, shortly after Newcastle, Wyoming, we were stopped by a 3 fatality crash and were told it was going to be at least a 3 hour delay. . .We decided to cross country it.. ended up at 33 miles of dirt and silt.. the XR did pretty well..
Back on the pavement, ended up getting a neato speeding ticket.. and encountering a flesh eating squirrel .. I watched him eat an entire bird, head first.. is this a sign of the zombie apocalypse???
